Experimenting and Learning in Kindergarten Classes

An essential part of the early years’ pedagogy is to establish innovation and creativity in the ELS classrooms. Grimm's Kindergarten campus features areas designed explicitly for playful experimentation and exploration. Early learning practitioners have adopted a student-focused educational philosophy that encourages self-directed, experiential learning within a relationship-building environment. An exciting kindergarten programme of study allows developing youngsters to communicate happily, experiment with learning materials, research their surroundings and sustain their new knowledge in the process. They become confident in independent learning and enjoy working with others.

Art, Music, and Creativity Sessions in Kindergarten Programme

Each creative discipline structured within the lesson plans for Toddlers, Walkers, and Explorers classes, is designed to develop the individual creative spirit in every learner. Kindergarten schemes of work feature artistic activities, music lessons and movement classes. Learning through play is an effective model for early years’ teaching programmes, and ELS faculty members are highly-trained in designing activities that stimulate young imaginations.

Theory of Art Lessons in Kindergarten Programme

For young preschoolers, one of the benefits of attending kindergarten is to enjoy and explore multiple avenues to express their ideas and emotions through arts and crafts. During artistically-centred lessons, naturally inquisitive kindergarten children learn about colour, form and ultimately, the world around them. Learning through art is encouraged, as it has been proven to support the development of social, emotional, academic, and physical skills.

Music Lessons in Kindergarten

Research has shown that music has a powerful influence on children of all ages. When exposed to sound, the brain is stimulated by auditory input, and over time, these auditory mechanisms are strengthened and can assist in enhanced memory recollection. The benefits of this process are essential. Across the preschool music curriculum, activities include singing, mimicking rhythmic sounds and playing musical instruments. Each of the three early years’ learning groups will regularly have scheduled time with enthusiastic, specialised music teachers to build their confidence, brainpower, and social skills, which they can then apply in other disciplines.

Kindergarten Dance and Body Expression Classes

During engaging movement and physical expression sessions, foundation years, students learn agility, balance, and coordination while building their understanding of harmony, rhythm, and movement. Specialised developmental games and physical activities provide confidence in physical expression while also promoting the development of strong gross and fine motor skills – an essential building block in the healthy development of all growing preschool-aged children.

Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy

In a holistic approach to early learning education, class teachers in the ELS may enlist the expertise of child psychologists, occupational therapists and speech and language therapists where needed. If a young EYS learner does require additional support during school time, the service of external developmental agencies may complement day-to-day class-based learning. Qualified and experienced practitioners provide all other ELS therapy sessions.

csm-educacion-grimms-kindergarten-transport

Transportation and ELS Bus Service

A door-to-door, school-managed transportation service is available for preschool commuters. During the bus journey to and from school, all young travelling children are accompanied by a school-appointed travel assistant, assigned to take care of each group. Young bus users will be well-supervised for the entirety of their trip to guarantee their safety and comfort.

Creativity Workshop

In a vibrant addition to formal learning, creative afternoon sessions occur after school and are open to all preschool learners who wish to join. Facilitated by patient and specialist staff, fun on-site classes encourage the artistic and social growth of the preschool facility’s youngest students. Attending a workshop may be beneficial in the first years of experiencing a learning routine, as an extended schedule may help new learners adapt to regular school hours. Areas of exploration in after school sessions include music, fine arts, gymnastics, English, homework help, speaking, science, and technology-based activities.

Dental Programme

We care about the well-being of all students, inside and out. Dental health is an essential element of physical health, which is why we offer preventive oral health services to all enrolled preschool pupils.

Our New Preschool Campus

The new preschool draws inspiration from the natural landscape of the eastern hills, integrating organic and asymmetrical forms into its design. Recycled wood highlights the facade, connecting children to nature through touch and scent. The prominence of wood is reflected in the toys and campus structures, enhancing motor and cognitive skills in the children. This unique wooden focus allows for greater concentration and acoustic isolation for more focused learning. The campus layout promotes a balance between nature and classrooms, with open-air corridors and a large central park serving as an integrative hub for the student community.

The construction has already begun and it is estimated to be ready by the end of January.

Preschools in Bogota

Everything you need to know

How to choose the best option for your child?

Choosing the best preschool for your child is an important decision. It is important to take the time to research preschools and find one that is the best fit for your family. Consider the location, curriculum, teacher qualifications, facility, and schedule when assessing preschools. Additionally, take into consideration the teaching philosophy and values of the school. Ask questions and take a tour of the school to get a better understanding of the environment. Before making your decision, talk to other parents who have children in the preschool and read reviews online. Ultimately, pick a preschool that meets the needs of your child and makes you feel comfortable.

It is also important to take into account your child's individual needs, such as their learning style, interests, and personality. Taking the time to research and ask the right questions will help you make the best decision for your child.

How do you know if it’s a good preschool program

When evaluating a preschool, there are a few key indicators of a good educational program. Firstly, the program should be age-appropriate, meaning that it should be tailored to the needs and abilities of the children enrolled. Secondly, the program should encourage children to build positive and meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers. Thirdly, the program should provide opportunities for creative expression and exploration. Lastly, the program should be engaging and foster a love of learning. All of these elements should be present in a quality educational program. If a preschool is meeting these criteria, you can be sure that it has a good educational program.

You can also determine whether a preschool has a good program by looking at the qualifications of the teachers, the student-teacher ratio, the curriculum, the learning environment, and the resources available. The qualifications of the teachers should include their credentials, experience, and ongoing training. The student-teacher ratio should be low enough for teachers to give individual attention to each student.

The preschool should also have enough resources, such as books, materials, technology, and outdoor space, to support the curriculum and enhance the learning experience.

Is it important to learn a second language since preschool?

Learning a second language from a young age has many benefits. First, it can help children to develop their cognitive abilities, allowing them to think more creatively, reason logically, and remember more effectively. It can also help them to understand and appreciate different cultures, giving them an understanding of the world around them. Additionally, learning a second language from a young age can open up many new career opportunities and give them an advantage when applying for jobs. Learning a second language can also help children to develop better communication skills and become more confident in expressing themselves in different languages.

Finally, it is a great way to make new friends and create bonds with people from different backgrounds. All in all, learning a second language from a young age is an important and valuable skill that can open up many doors for children.

tipos de actividades en preescolar

What kind of activities will my children do in preschool?

Preschool is an important part of children's early education and development. It provides an environment where children are encouraged to explore and learn through creative activities and motor skill development. These activities support their physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. By engaging in creative play and activities, children can build their problem-solving and critical thinking skills, as well as develop their imagination and creativity. Motor skills are also cultivated through play and activities, allowing children to refine their coordination, strength and balance. All of these skills are important for their further development and growth.

Through engaging in various activities, such as art, music, storytelling, and physical activities, children can learn to use their imagination, practice their fine motor skills, and express themselves in a safe environment. Experiences like this help children to master basic skills, prepare them for school, and lay the foundation for their future academic and social success.

Education in Colombia

Formal education in Colombia begins in preschool (by law, a minimum grade of preschool education is mandatory), followed by two cycles of basic education (five grades of basic primary education and four grades of secondary education) and two grades of high school education, which can be academic (this is the one offered in most institutions) or technical.

The environment at preschool is essential

The environment in a preschool is an important factor in the development of children. A good preschool should have a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages children to explore, learn, create and play. Young children should be provided with age-appropriate toys and equipment that promote physical, social, emotional and cognitive development. A preschool should also include spaces for children to engage in creative activities such as art, music, and movement. Additionally, it should encourage positive interaction between children and staff, as well as between children themselves. The environment should promote the development of a positive self-image and help children develop a sense of trust and respect for their peers.

The role of teachers at preschool

When considering preschool teachers, it is important to look for credentials and experience. Ask the school for the teacher's qualifications and check the state's licensing requirements to ensure they meet the minimum standards. Additionally, look for teachers who are patient, understanding and can provide a safe environment for children to learn and develop. Observe the class during a visit and take note of how the teachers interact with the students. Ask other parents for their opinion and look for positive reviews online. Ultimately, the most important factor is whether you, as a parent, feel comfortable leaving your child in the teacher's care.

Do they show enthusiasm and an understanding of the children's developmental needs? Finally, consider the type of teaching methods the teachers use. Are they providing a curriculum that is developmentally appropriate, and are they using positive reinforcement and guidance techniques? All of these factors will help you determine if the teachers at the preschool are good.

What you should look for in facilities for preschool

It is incredibly important for preschool children to have access to high-quality facilities. In the preschool years, children are establishing the foundation for their future development and learning, so the environment they are in must be conducive to their growth. Good facilities provide an atmosphere that is safe, stimulating and engaging, encouraging children to explore and discover. Not only do such facilities allow children to develop physical skills, but also social, emotional and cognitive skills. They also provide the opportunity for children to learn how to build relationships, work together and solve problems. High-quality facilities can help foster creativity and imagination, and provide children with a strong feeling of belonging. Ultimately, good facilities are essential for the development of children in their preschool years.
