The Cambridge International Pathway at St. Matthew School begins with the Cambridge Early Years Programme for children aged 18 months to 1st grade. It continues with the Cambridge Primary Years Programme for 2nd to 6th grades, followed by the Cambridge Lower Secondary Programme for 7th to 9th grades. The pathway culminates in the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) in 10th grade and Advanced Levels (A Levels) for 11th and 12th grades. This comprehensive programme establishes a strong foundation for academic success, ensuring that students develop essential skills and knowledge throughout their educational journey. In Preschool, the Cambridge International curriculum focuses on six key areas of development that promote children's holistic growth. Our youngest pupils engage in Communication, Language, and Literacy, enhancing their speaking, reading, and writing skills in English and Spanish. They express their creativity through the Creative Expression syllabus, which includes visual arts, music, dance, and drama. Our Cambridge Mathematics curriculum develops foundational skills in number sense, data handling, and spatial awareness, while the Understanding the World syllabus introduces scientific thinking and digital literacy. Moreover, Personal, Social, and Emotional Development is integral to the Cambridge International early years curriculum, helping children build self-regulation, confidence, and healthy relationships for future academic and personal success. Physical Development is encouraged through physical activities, motor skill development, and an introduction to sports.

In the Primary Years, St. Matthew's bilingual curriculum integrates the Cambridge International programme, National Ministry of Education standards, and our own pedagogical model. Subjects include Cambridge English, Maths, and Science, along with mandatory local curriculum subjects, providing a strong foundation for success in Middle and High School. Upon completing their Cambridge Primary Checkpoint tests, students receive a statement of achievement with official results, detailed feedback on each subject, and a comparison to an international benchmark.

In Middle School, our curriculum and exceptional teaching continue to prepare students for global success, incorporating the Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum for English, Maths, and Science. As students advance to their final years in High School, they delve deeper into core Cambridge subjects such as Maths, History, Spanish, and Global Perspectives, while also having the option to select electives like Music, Arts & Design, Economics, Biology, or French. At our Cambridge International School in Bogotá, students are continuously assessed and thoughtfully guided through feedback from the early years onwards. The first external examinations are the Cambridge Checkpoint Tests, taken at the end of Primary School (6th grade) and upon finishing Middle School (9th grade). In 10th grade, students sit for the IGCSE exams, earning the world’s most popular international qualification for 14 to 16-year-olds, equivalent to the American high school diploma. Lastly, St. Matthew's students build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills to excel in their A Level examinations at the end of 12th grade, obtaining a globally respected qualification that enables them to apply to prestigious universities worldwide.

Cambridge IGCSEs are graded on a scale from A* (highest) to G, while Cambridge International A Levels are reported on a scale from A* (highest) to E (minimum required performance).
